There is no direct flight from Shanghai to Mount Huashan, you have to take a flight to Xian first and then take a bullet train or a shuttle bus from Xian to Huashan. There are three railway stations in Xian in total. If you want to take bullet train from Shanghai to Xian, you have to buy the train that arrive at Xian North Train Station. Among three railway stations, only Xian North Train Station sell bullet train tickets.

Take a taxi is the fastest way to Terracotta Army from Xian airport, it takes around 1 hour to get there and costs around CNY 180 OR 27USD. Terracotta Warriors is around 68km from Xian xianyang international airport.

The weather from December to February is qutie cold and dry. There are occasional snowfalls, but they rarely settle for long. Though the temperature is low, it will be much less crowded in Xian than Spring(From March to May) and Autumn(September to November). It's the best time to visit the Terracotta Warriors if you want to don't like the crowds.

Famen temple is around 130km from Xian north train station, it takes around 1.5 hours to get there. And the opening hours of Famen Templs is 08:00-17:30, if you take a taxi from the train station to Famen temple when you arrive, you'll have around 1 hour to explore the site, which is too tight for you. Flight makes Xian from Shanghai easy to reach and save time, normally it takes around 2 days to visit the main Xian highlights including Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Shaanxi History Museum, Muslim Quarter, Bell Tower, etc, and then take a flight from Xian to Guilin (around 2 hours), you can spend 2 full days there to visit the Elephant Trunk Hill, Water Moon Cave, Reed Flute Cave and enjoy the Li River Cruise to Yangshuo. At the end, return to Shanghai by flight. If you have longer stay in China, you can take excursion to Beijing, Chengdu or Hangzhou.

To see the entire wall and its surroundings, highly suggest you rent a bike. Single and tandem bikes can be rented from a stall by the South Gate entry point or several other locations along the wall.
