In addition, our experienced and skilled driver, equipped with excellent driving capabilities, will safely transport you throughout the tour. The vehicle is well-maintained, ensuring both comfort and safety during the entire excursion. Your wonderful 3-day tour in Dunhuang begins with a warm greeting from your guide at your hotel, Dunhuang Railway Station or Dunhuang Airport—look out for the distinctive "Your Way Holiday" welcome sign.

In the morning, you will visit Mogao Grottoes, a world cultural heritage site known as the "Art Gallery in the Desert". Located 25 kilometers southeast of Dunhuang City, Mogao Grottoes is one of the largest and best-preserved Buddhist art grottoes in the world. It was built over 10 dynasties from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, spanning more than 1,000 years, with a total of 735 grottoes, more than 45,000 square meters of murals and 2,415 colored sculptures. The grottoes are distributed on a cliff 1,600 meters long and 50 meters high, showing a magnificent scale. The murals cover a wide range of themes, including Buddhist stories, historical events, folk customs, myth and legend, which are not only artistic masterpieces but also precious materials for studying ancient Chinese history, culture, art and society. The colored sculptures are mainly Buddhist figures, with different shapes and vivid expressions, reflecting the artistic styles of different dynasties.

For lunch, our guide will provide intimate service to help you experience Dunhuang’s local dining culture in depth. They will take you to a local authentic restaurant and assist you in ordering, explaining the origin and characteristics of each dish in detail. We recommend trying the local signature dish—donkey meat with yellow noodles, a traditional delicacy with a history of thousands of years. The yellow noodles are chewy and fragrant, and the donkey meat is tender and not greasy. You can also try another local specialty, Dunhuang Braised Lamb Chops, which is made of local lamb, braised with local spices, tender and flavorful, with a hint of sweetness, which is a classic local meat dish. We also offer flexible dining options to meet the needs of vegetarians, Muslims and other guests, ensuring that every guest can enjoy a comfortable meal.

In the afternoon, we will head to Mingsha Mountain Crescent Moon Spring, about 20 minutes’ drive from the urban area. Mingsha Mountain is a typical desert landscape, composed of quartz sand, which is golden in color and soft in texture. When the sand is blown by the wind, it will make a low roaring sound, hence the name "Mingsha Mountain" (Singing Sand Mountain). The mountain is about 1715 meters above sea level, with undulating sand dunes, stretching for dozens of kilometers, showing the vastness and grandeur of the desert. Crescent Moon Spring is nestled in the heart of the desert, shaped like a crescent moon, with a length of about 100 meters and a width of about 25 meters. The spring water is clear all year round, with a depth of 5 meters. The water quality is sweet and mellow, and it has not dried up for thousands of years, forming a spectacular scene of "sand surrounding the spring and spring reflecting the sand". The spring is surrounded by poplar trees and willows, which contrast with the yellow sand, forming a unique desert oasis landscape.

After the trip, our guide and driver will safely take you back to the hotel.
On the second day, your guide will greet you at your hotel on time in the morning, and we will set off for Yumen Pass, the whole journey is along the Gobi, and the guide will introduce the historical and geographical features of the Silk Road along the way, making the journey not boring.
In the morning, we will first visit Yumen Pass, an important pass on the ancient Silk Road. Yumen Pass, also known as "Little Square City", is located in the Gobi desert 90 kilometers west of Dunhuang City. It is a square castle site built of loess rammed earth, with a side length of about 26 meters and a height of about 10 meters. The city wall is thick and solid, with a thickness of 3-4 meters at the bottom and 2-3 meters at the top, built by layered ramming, which is firm and durable. There are crenels on the top of the city wall for observing and defending, and a single gate on the north side, which is the only entrance and exit of the castle. As the core symbol of Yumen Pass and a spiritual symbol of the ancient Silk Road, it was an important gateway for land transportation on the Silk Road in ancient times. Caravans from the East and the West carrying silk, spices, porcelain and other goods gathered and passed through here, witnessing the prosperity of the Silk Road and the cultural exchanges between the East and the West. After thousands of years of wind and sand erosion, the castle still stands in the Gobi, showing the unique architectural wisdom and historical value of ancient China.

After visiting Yumen Pass, we will head to the nearby Han Great Wall Ruins, a well-preserved section of the Han Dynasty Great Wall, located about 10 kilometers east of Yumen Pass. This section of the Han Great Wall is an important part of the ancient frontier defense project, built in the Western Han Dynasty to resist the invasion of nomadic tribes. It was built by layering red willow branches and gravel, with a height of 3-5 meters and a width of 2-3 meters. The red willow branches, which are rich in local areas, are used as the skeleton to enhance the toughness of the wall, and the gravel is filled between them to ensure the firmness of the wall. After thousands of years of wind and sand erosion, most of the wall is still intact, standing in the vast Gobi, forming a spectacular scene of "the Great Wall winds through the Gobi". There are also simple beacon towers built at intervals along the wall, which were used to transmit military information in ancient times. Lighting beacon fires at different times and frequencies could quickly pass on the enemy situation, reflecting the superb military wisdom of the ancient Chinese people.

Since there is no formal restaurant in the scenic area, we recommend you try some portable local delicacies that are easy to carry and taste authentic Dunhuang flavors. You can choose Dunhuang Nang, a traditional baked wheaten food with a crispy outer skin and soft inner texture, which is seasoned with sesame and salt, fragrant and durable, perfect for eating in the Gobi. In addition, local dried fruits such as apricot leather and jujube cake are also good choices—apricot leather is made from local fresh apricots, sour and sweet, refreshing and hydrating; jujube cake is made from red dates and glutinous rice, sweet but not greasy, which can supplement energy during the tour. These delicacies are easy to buy near the scenic area and can let you experience the local food culture while enjoying the Gobi scenery.

In the afternoon, we will drive to Yadan National Geopark (Devil City), about 1 hour’s drive from Yumen Pass. It is located in the western part of Dunhuang City, with a total area of about 398 square kilometers. It is a magnificent Yadan landform group formed by wind and water erosion for millions of years. The landform is composed of grayish-yellow conglomerate and sandstone, with various strange shapes, such as pyramids, pagodas, and beasts, like an alien world, hence the name "Devil City". The most famous scenic spot is "West Sea Fleet", where hundreds of mounds stand neatly in the Gobi, with different heights, like a fleet sailing on the sea, which is extremely shocking. The best viewing time here is at sunset, when the setting sun shines on the mounds, showing a golden color, which is even more magnificent.

After the trip, our guide and driver will safely take you back to the hotel.
On the third day, we will arrange a relatively relaxed itinerary to let you feel the cultural connotation of Dunhuang in a leisurely way. In the morning, your guide will greet you at your hotel on time, and we will head to Leiyin Temple.
In the morning, we will visit Leiyin Temple, one of the oldest temples in Dunhuang. Located at the foot of Mingsha Mountain, 5 kilometers south of Dunhuang City, it was first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,500 years. The temple is built against the mountain, with a grand and solemn layout, covering an area of about 30,000 square meters. It integrates traditional Chinese temple architecture and Dunhuang local cultural characteristics, with main buildings such as the Mountain Gate, Heavenly King Hall, Mahavira Hall, and Guanyin Pavilion arranged in order along the central axis. The Mahavira Hall is the main building of the temple, with a grand structure, and the statues of Sakyamuni, Amitabha, and Medicine Buddha are enshrined inside, which are solemn and dignified. The temple is surrounded by green trees and quiet environment, which is a holy place for Buddhist belief and a good place to experience the integration of Buddhism and Dunhuang culture.

For lunch, our guide will take you to a local characteristic restaurant, recommending authentic Dunhuang delicacies such as lamb hezhi and paoer oil cake. Lamb hezhi is a warm and delicious soup dish, with tender lamb and rich soup, which is very suitable for relieving fatigue. Paoer oil cake is a traditional dessert from the Tang Dynasty, crisp and sweet, with a unique taste. The guide will assist you in ordering, explain the production process of each dish, and let you deeply experience the food culture of the Silk Road. We also provide flexible dining options to meet different dietary needs.

In the afternoon, we will visit Dunhuang Museum, about 15 minutes’ drive from Leiyin Temple. Located in the urban area of Dunhuang, it is a comprehensive museum displaying the history and culture of Dunhuang, covering an area of about 16,000 square meters, with a construction area of 7,800 square meters. The museum has a large number of cultural relics, with a total collection of more than 13,000 pieces (sets), including bronze ware, painted bricks, murals, silk fabrics, and documents from the Mogao Grottoes. The exhibition is divided into several parts, such as "Dunhuang History and Culture", "Mogao Grottoes Art", and "Silk Road Relics", showing the historical context of Dunhuang from the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The key exhibits include the restored Mogao Grottoes, the "Postman Picture" painted brick (the prototype of the China Post logo), and the colored silk fabrics unearthed from the Mogao Grottoes, which are precious cultural relics reflecting the prosperity of the Silk Road.

After the visit, our guide will safely send you back to your hotel, Dunhuang Railway Station or Dunhuang Airport according to your needs, bringing your 3-day Dunhuang essence tour to a perfect end.
