Brief Introduction of Lanzhou History
Lanzhou is a city with a long history. People began to take up residence there as early as 15,000 years ago, and around 5,000 years ago, the residents of Lanzhou created the "Majiayao Culture," which is based on colored pottery. In the 33rd year of Qinshihuang's reign (214 BC), Yuzhong County was established as the earliest government administrative region to cover the current Lanzhou area. The city got its current name "Lanzhou" during the first year of Emperor Wen of Sui (581 AD); finally, in 1941, the city of Lanzhou was established.

Geography
Lanzhou is the China's northwest geographical center, more than 20 km of urbanization along the southern banks of the Yellow River. It is formed by three parts. They are valleys, basins, hilly land and Huangtumao ditch and gully area. The Yellow River is flowing through the whole city.

Population
Lanzhou is an ethnic mixed city, there are many ethnic groups live in here such as Hui, Tibetan, Uygur, Kazak, thus Lanzhou people have mixed dietary style, and also we respect different believes, religion, faith. The population of Lanzhou city is estimated at 3,616,163 in 2019.

Climate
Lanzhou is situated in the temperate zone and enjoys a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold and dry winters. Diurnal temperature ranges tend to be somewhat large due to the high elevation and aridity. The mean annual temperature is 10.6 °C, while annual rainfall is 315 millimeters, almost all of which falls from May to October. The winters are so dry that snow is extremely rare.
