Brief Introdution

The renovation of the Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall included repairing the former residence of General Zhang (1901-2001) and the villa of General Yang (1893-1949), the expansion of the exhibition rooms in the memorial hall and the use of multimedia for the video room and the tourist reception center. 

After the expansion, the exhibition rooms show the history of the Xi'an incident from different aspects illustrated with more than 200 historic photos, about 30 cultural relics and 20 historical documents. The highlight is the exhibition of the silica gel statue of T. V. Soong and his sister Soong May-ling, the wife of Chiang Kai-shek. These statues are the first of its kind shown in the Chinese mainland.

Main Highlights

The Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall was built in December 1986 and was a compound consisting of the former residence of General Zhang and the villa of General Yang. The former residence of General Zhang is a courtyard house which is a three-storied brick-and-wood western-style building, which is a representative historical relic under the national protection in the area. The memorial hall has had 1.6 million visitors since its establishment 20 years ago.

The contents of the site of the Xi'an incident included the residence of Zhang Xueliang, the residence of General Yang Hucheng, the Zhang Xueliang residence, the Huanglou Building of the New Town of the headquarters, and the Gao Guizi residence, the main venue for the incident and handling of the incident. Xijing guesthouse, Hua Qing chi five rooms, etc.

ZhiyuanZhiyuan is located in Xi'an Youth Road Zhiyuan Hotel west side, formerly for General Yang Hucheng villa, also known as Yang Hucheng residence, the environment is very quiet. The villa is now a memorial to General Yang Hucheng, containing the remains of General Yang Hucheng and some documents of the Xi'an incident.

Zhang Xueliang Residence Hall
Zhang Xueliang residence in Xi'an Jianguo Road a word 69, commonly known as "Zhang Gong Guan", by the east-west arrangement of three small buildings. Zhang Xueliang lived in the West Building. After the Xi'an incident, General Zhang Xueliang arranged for the Chinese delegation to stay in the East Building.

Huanglou
Huanglou is located in the compound of the Shaanxi Provincial people's Government. It is the headquarters of the Xi'an incident launched by General Zhang and Yang, and is the seat of Xi'an Pacification Office. After Jiang Jieshi was arrested, he was first taken to the east living room of Huanglou and transferred to Gao Guizi residence a few days later.

Gao Guizi Residence Hall
Gao Guizi residence located in Xi'an Jianguo Road Xuanfeng Bridge, and Jinjia Lane Zhang Xueliang residence adjacent. Used to be Jiang Jieshi's remanded residence. Chen Cheng, Wei Lihuang, and more than 10 members of the Kuomintang military and political leaders who followed him to Shaanxi, and Song Mei-ling and Song Ziwen, who later arrived in Xi'an from Nanjing, all lived here.

Xijing Guesthouse
Xijing guesthouse is located in the northwest of Jiefang Road and Xi Si Road intersection in Xi'an. It was built by Yang Hucheng in the early 1930s to entertain Kuomintang dignitaries. At that time, Chen Cheng, Zhu Shaoliang and Jiang Dingwen, members of the Kuomintang military officials who came to Shaanxi with Jiang Jieshi, lived here.

Take the Wulong Special Line or take bus No. 5, 7, 27, 29, 30, 3, 7, 40, the bus route no. 6 and get off at "Dachashi stop", get off at the first crossing in the east, 100 meters east.
