Originally built as a military defense system to protect the city, it stands as one of the oldest, largest, and best-preserved city walls in China. After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will transfer you to Yan'an (approximately 4 hours). Yan'an, located in the Shaanbei region of Shaanxi province, is historically significant as the endpoint of the Long March and the birthplace of the Chinese revolution. It was the center of the Chinese Communist revolution from 1936 to 1948. Upon arrival and after lunch, you will visit the Yangjialing Revolutionary Site, located about 3 kilometers northwest of Yan'an. This site includes important landmarks such as the residences of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, and Zhu De, as well as the general office of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. Highlights include the Great Auditorium, Office Building, and a row of Yaodongs (artificial caves carved into hillsides) that once housed key leaders. Your guide will provide insightful historical context and share the significance of each site, enriching your understanding of this pivotal era in Chinese history.

Next, you'll visit the Zaoyuan Revolutionary Headquarters Site. Originally the manor of a warlord in northern Shaanxi, Zaoyuan was transformed and expanded between 1941 and 1943 to become a key location in the Chinese Communist Party’s history. Over 20 cave houses and bungalows were constructed, along with an auditorium. The Central Department of Social Affairs (CDSA) and several other CPC departments relocated here in early 1939, and later, the Central Secretariat also moved in. The site served as the residence of many key figures, including Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Liu Shaoqi, and Zhou Enlai.
